HAYDEN, who "is now prepared to take LIKENESSES of all who may favor him with a call." Note that the address and the town were left blank, indicating an itinerant daguerreotypist. Also, by "Miniatures," he's referring to daguerreotypes of any size, as relative to paintings of the era. Size of the actual broadside is roughly 11 x 9½ inches.

NO RESERVE
ESTIMATE: $150 - $350

Lot 14: REPRODUCTION OF DAGUERREIAN CAMERA & LENS

Note: This consignment was damaged during shipping. It was simply the front that was affected (see last photograph). Some sanding and a new coat of varnish would rectify the situation.

This replica daguerreian camera was made by master woodworker Alan Kaniarz. His furniture is in use at the Detroit Institute of Art in the modern wing. He teaches furniture design courses at Wayne State University and wood and metal shop courses at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. He was featured in Hour Detroit magazine.

Camera is approximately 8¼ x 11½ x 7¾ inches. Glass part of lens is approximately ¾ of an inch in diameter. Entire lens, with metal, is approximately 4⅛ inches in diameter. Text on lens: "HugoMeyer & Co - Coerlitz," "No 5180," "D.R.P. 125 560," "F=150m." The lens will require screws to be attached to the camera.

The lawn is a tinge of red. The sky is blue, but we can't determine if that's solarization, hand-coloring or a little bit of both. Full case.

Comes with sixth plate daguerreotype of man, purportedly the owner of the house.

Absentee bidders: this is a two-item lot, so special packing fees apply. See the shipping terms for details.
